Kenya’s Beryl Atieno Wamira lived to her expectations as she gave the country her first ever silver medal in the women 200m finals at the ongoing World Deaf Athletics Championships that are being held at the Lublin Athletics Stadium in Poland.
The 26 year-old came to the finals with a personal and seasonal best of 25.49 and was pooled along the Belarus finest and fastest athlete, Katsiaryna Zhurbenkova who holds a personal best of 25.00.
Zhurbenkova did not mince her words as she took down Atieno in the final 20m to run away with the gold medal in 25.19 with the Kenyan crossing the line in 25.42.
