Kenya’s Beryl Atieno Wamira seems to be a gold prospect as she heads to the women 200m finals in day five at the ongoing World Deaf Athletics Championships that are being held at the Lublin Athletics Stadium in Poland.
The 26 year-old holds a personal and seasonal best of 25.49 and will be keeping the Kenyan hopes alive on being on the podium as she is the fastest in the entire lineup of eight athletes.
Wamira will have a stiff challenge from Belarus Katsiaryna Zhurbenkova who has the second fastest time of 25.59 but holds a season best 25:00.
The other athlete in the medal contention includes Russia’s Anastasia Sergeevna Aktuganova who will be running under the flag of RCDS, and she holds a season best of 25.63. Another RCDS Alena Filushkina of personal best of 25.71 will be aiming for the share of the cake on the podium
