Kenya’s Beatrice Jepchirchir Cheserek won her third race of the season when she broke the race course record at the 23rd edition of the Tallin Half Marathon held on Saturday (09) in Tallin, Estonia.
The 24 year-old who came to this race with the fastest time on paper of 1:06.48 that she got last year at the Wizz Air Cardiff Half Marathon, where she took the top honors, led a 1-2-3 Kenyan podium finish when she erased the old course record of 1:10.19 that had been set in 2019 by Janet Runguru Gishumba with a new course record of 1:08.22.
Cheserek was followed in second place eight seconds later by the 2019 winner, Gishumba, with Lydia Jebichi Korir wrapping up the podium three finishes in a time of 1:08.49.
Alemaddis Eyayu Sissa and Addisie Mislenew both from Ethiopia found the going tough as they came home in fourth and fifth place in respective time of 1:11.19 and 1:13.31.
The first Estonian to cross the finish line was Jekaterina Patjuk who came home in sixth place in a time of 1:17.11.
