World 3000m steeplechase record holder Beatrice Chepkoech, smashed the world best time for the 2000m water and barrier race at the Boris Hanžeković Memorial held on Sunday (10) at Mladost Stadium in Zagreb, Bosnia.
The world silver medallist broke the previous record of 5:52.80 set by the 2015 World 3000m steeplechase bronze medallist, Gesa Felicitas Krause from German in 2019 with a new blistering record of 5:47.42.
“I once held a world record, now I have two. I consider myself fortunate. Remaining focused and positive is key. I’m grateful to God for giving me the strength to deliver exceptional performances this season,” said Chepkoech.
Chepkoech was followed by her compatriot Winnie Chemutai, who nearly matched the prior best with a time of 5:52.92 with Slovenia’s Marusa Mismas finishing third with a National Record time of 5:53.38.
