Athletics News will be making its debut in the inter media football tournament to be staged at Galleria Arena on Saturday, July 1st, 2023.
Athletics News have been pooled in group A against the 2016 StarTimes Inter-Media champions Radio Africa, Royal Media and the new kid on the block TV 47.
The athletics media team is articipating in the annual tournament which is organised by the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) being used to commemorate the World Sports Journalists Day.
The team Ied by Athletics News editor John Vaselyne as the captain and it includes the 2014 CNN awards nominee Oliver Ochanda aka Tall, Africa’s number in the Video Documentary category in the AIPS international sports journalists awards,Shadrack Andenga Odinga and former Citizen Tv news anchor Mukami Wambora among others.
“We are ready for the tournament and we shall prove that athletics journalists are superior and can conquer other sporting disciplines by beating them anytime in their own game,” said Vaselyne while exuding confidence.
The top two teams in the 16 team tournament from each pool will qualify for the quarter finals where the winner will bag a trophy and Ksh50, 000.
The tournament which is being sponsored by the Spanish top flight league LaLiga has been organised by SJAK to commemorate the World Sports Journalists Day which is usually marked on July 2nd.
Among the other partners are Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), pay pay tv DStv, Bounty Limited manufacturers of Safari Energy Drink and Safari Water Bottlers.
