ASABA 2018: Kenya’s Korir beats Botsawana’s Nijel Amos to Reach 800m Finals

Africa Indoor record holder Emmanuel Korir led Kenyans into qualifying into the finals of the men’s 800m at the Africa Senior Athletics Championships in Asaba, Nigeria on Thursday.

Korir a United States of America (USA) based University student timed 1:46.91 to eclipse defending champion and Continental Cup winner Botsawana’s Nigel Amos who had to contend with the second spot in heat two of the event.

The 2014 World IAAF  4x400m relay gold medalist in Nassau, Bahamas,  Kenya’s Ferguson Rotich wọn heat 1 comfortably in a time of 1:48:18.

In the final heat, the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games fourth place finisher, Kenya’s Jonathan Kitlit claimed victory winning in 1:46.55 which was the fastest time by a winner in the heats.
