An athlete dies at the Lisbon half marathon

A Dutch athlete died after completing the Lisbon Half Marathon that was held on Sunday (8) in Lisbon Portugal.

The Maratona Clube de Portugal – organisers of the event – have not given any further details. Temperatures in Lisbon were in the 30ºs today.

Another athlete suffered a “serious medical” issue, but has since been stabilized.

The race was won by Tsehay Gemechu Beyan from Ethiopia who defended her title and Keneth Kiprop Renju from Kenya taking the men’s title.
