Reigning London marathon champion Amos Kipruto will headline the 41st edition of the Silvesterlauf BOclassic Alto Adige 10K Race that will be held on Saturday (31) in Seiser Alm, Italy.
The 2019 World Marathon bronze medallist is not new to this course as he took the third position at the 2019 edition where he set his life time best of 28:37.
The 30 year-old, who has had a successful 2022 and wants the achievementto flow to 2023 and get a chance to represent the country at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, will not have an easy ride as he will face-off with the double World 5000m champion Edris Muktar from Ethiopia. The 28 year-old who is familiar to this course and also the 2020 winner, comes to this race with the fastest time on paper of 27:57 that he got in 2019 in Switzerland. Muktar who is also the 2012 World U20 champion has won this event three times and he would be looking for the fourth title to become the second individual with more wins after Sergey Lebid from Ukrain who holds the record of five with four consecutively.
The two will also have to get past the reigning European 10,000m champion, Yemaneberhan Crippa from Italy. The 26 year-old who is also a two time European Championships Bronze medallist, comes to this race with the third fastest time of 28:34 that he got in 2018 in his home town.
Another title contender is the new kid on the block, the 22 year-old Maxime Chaumeton from South Africa who comes to this race with a life time best of 27:58 that he got early this year at the ABSA RYC Durban 10k where he finished in fourth place.
The race orgabnisers have put together the strong elite filed to chase the course record time of 28:18 that was set last year by Worku Tadese Gebresilase from Ethiopia.
