Alphonce Kigen took the top honors in men’s marathon race at the 20thh edition of the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon held on Sunday (29) at Carnivore Grounds, Nairobi.
Kigen who fought of Moses Mwangi and Patrick Kipchirchir missed the race course record of 2:10.12 set fourteen years ago by Moses Kigen.
Kigen separated himself from the two at the last minutes of the race to cut the tape first in a time of 2:10.18 and was followed in second by Moses Mwangi in 2:10.26 with Kipchirchir wrapping up the podium three finishes in 2:11.59.
Gideon Chepkonga and David Kipyego finished in fourth in respective time of 2:12.13 and 2:12.39.
