The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has suspended the Albanian Athletics Federation’s (AAF) president, Gjegj Ruli, for alleged breaches of the World Athletics’ Integrity Code of Conduct.
The AAF president was charged alongside his Secretary General, Nikolin Dionisi and Izmir Smajlaj, who is an athlete for alleged breaches of the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules.
Ruli and Dionisi were charged for the Conduct relating to the submission to World Athletics of a competition result for an Albanian long jumper, Izmir Smajlaj, which contributed to him securing a universality place to participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The three are provisionally suspended until their cases are resolved.
