The 2016 African bronze medallist, Abraham Kibiwot was made to work extra hard as he pushed to the wall before winning the 3,000m steeplechase gold at the Commonwealth Games being held at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
The 26 year-old who took charge of the race from the bell to the end was made to sweat for is victory by India’s Avinash Mukund Sable as they shoved each other at the tail end but Kibiwott managed to hold him off to cross the finish in 8:11.15 with Sable etching his name in the annals of Indian athletics history by winning the silver medal in a new personal best of 8:11.20.
Former World U20 champion, Amos Serem took bronze medal in 8:16.83.
