The Disciplinary Tribunal has banned Abeba-Tekulu Gebremeskel for four years for the use of a Prohibited Substance/Method, which is a violation of the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules.
Gebremeskel was charged by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) with an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) in connection with alleged abnormalities in the haematological module of her Athlete Biological Passport (“ABP”) revealed between 30 November 2019 and 31 July 2020.
The Disciplinary Tribunal comprised of Anna Smirnova (Chair), Dennis Koolaard and Patrick Grandjean determined that an Anti-Doping Rule Violation had been established pursuant to Article 2.2 and as a result, a four-year period of Ineligibility was applicable.
Gebremeskel results between November 30, 2019 to February 22, 2021 shall be disqualified.

Gebremeskel won the Porto Marathon in 2013 on her debut over the distance and she also took the same title in 2018 in a time of 2:39.51 and 2:30.13 respectively
