Kenya’s Dorcas Jepchirchir Tuitoek ran the second fastest time on Germany soil as she took the women’s title at the 37th edition of the Haspa Marathon on Sunday (23) in Hamburg, Germany.
The 25 year-old played a rabbit role as Ethiopia’s Tiruye Mesfin led for the better part of the race but struggled in the final stages of race and even fell but managed to pick herself up, allowing Tuitoek to take the advantage of the weary Ethiopian, to surge ahead and take the honors in a new personal best of 2:20.09 with the latter forced to settle in second place in 2:20.18.
The 2018 Commonwealth Games 10,000m champion, Stella Chesang who was making her marathon debut, closed the podium three finishes with anew Ugandan National Record of 2:20.23.
