Organizers of the Ndalat Gaa Cross Country have cancelled this year’s edition, just like last years.
The meet director Abraham Mutai, who also serves as Athletics Kenya Central Rift chairman assured that the race will be held in 2022 after the COVID -19 pandemic affected their plans in two years running.
The race, which was renamed as Isaiah Kiplagat Memorial Ndalat Gaa Cross country is set to celebrate the late Isaiah Kiplagat who served as the president of the Athletics Kenya (AK).
“It is unfortunate that we will not be hosting the event now heading into two years, which is a big blow to our upcoming athletes with the race well known for sporting and nurturing junior runners for future great athletes,” said Mutai.
He said that Safaricom as the main sponsor has not been doing much in sponsoring many activities.
“For us, we really base on junior athletes, that is why in our events, we have many junior categories unlike other events. Our purpose is not just running but what we can produce at the end of the day is what matters most,” he said.
This year’s edition could have been in its twelfth year.
