Elisha Kiprop Barno ran away with his second title at the 18th edition of the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon that was held on Sunday (31) at Carnivore Grounds in Nairobi.
The 36 year-old made two after winning the 2018 edition and today he beat a strong field to make it two with a time of 2:11.09 which is his fastest time at this race.
Elisha Kiprop expressed his joy at winning saying, “I am very pleased to have participated in this year’s marathon. I commenced training in June and it’s good to see the results of my hard work. I look forward to continuous growth in my athletic journey with hopes to participate in international marathons as well.’’ said Barno
The 2015 Kisumu City marathon winner, Alphonce Kigen came home in second place three seconds later with the 2016 Stanchart Half Marathon ninth place finisher Joshua Kogo wrapping up the first three podium finishes in 2:11.14.
Kennedy Cheserek and Stephen Mungathi finished in fourth and fifth place in a time of 2:11.30 and 2:11.39 respectively.
