Lucy Cheruiyot was the winner at the 15th edition of the Baringo Half Marathon that was held on Saturday (18) in Baringo County.
Cheruiyot who came with a personal best of 1:07.30 that she got at the Valencia Half Marathon where she finished third place behind world women 21km record holder Joyciline Jepkosgei.
Cheruiyot took the mantle from the 5k mark and she never looked back cutting the tape in 1:12.19 and was closesly followed by Naomi Chebet who crossed the line three seconds later with third place going to Joy Kimuma of 1:12.52.
“ I am working hrad to make to team Kenya that will head to the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia.” said Cheruiyot.
Maureen Jepkemoi and Antonina Kwambai came fourth and fifth in 1:14.00 and 1:14.05 respectively.
In the 10km race Sandra Chebet the 2015 world U18 2000m silver medallist took honors when she cut thetape in 33:11 and was followed by Dorcas Jepchirchir who crossed the line thirty nine seconds later with Caroline Jepkemoi closing the podium three in 34:09.
The race was graced by World women record holder Mary Keittany, Nock president Paul Tergat, Sports Permanent Secretary Peter Kaberia and Athletics Kenya president Jack Tuwei.
