Ethiopia’s Tadelech Bekele showed class at the 42nd edition of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon that will be held on Sunday (15) in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Tedelech battled Kenya’s Caroline Rotich who was her main challenger at the race when she cut the tape in 2:21.55 shy of 48 seconds to break the course record that was set by her fellow Ethiopian Meseret Hailu in 2012.
Debutante Gladys Chesir had a strong second half and moved into second place after Genet Yalow dropped out, eventually crossing the line in 2:24:51. Another debutante Azmera Abreha from Ethiopia took third in 2:25:23, while former track specialist Viola Kibiwot and Rotich took fourth and fifth place in 2:25.53 and 2:26.26 respectively.
