Kenya’s Agnes Barsosio smashed the course record of the sixth edition of the Ceske Budejovic Half Marathon that was held on Saturday (3) in Czech Republic.
Barsosio cut the tape with 1:09.53 as she broke the record that was set last year by Ethiopian Ashete Bekere when she ran 1:10.40.
She was followed by kenyan Rebecca Chesir who came four minutes later crossing the line in 1:13.05 and closing the podium finish was Ukranian Olga Skrypak who pulled 1:14.12.
“Iam really happy for the win especially the course record,” Barsosio told the press.
Two more kenyans Joy Kemuma and Veronicah Maina came fourth and fifth with 1:14.14 and 1:15.08 respectively.
In the Men’s race Justus Kangogo cut the tape as he led 1-2 kenya finish in 1:02.47 and was followed by Paul Mwangi of 1:04.33.
“I have to say am impressed with my time today given the weather conditions that prevailed today,” Kangogo said.
Former world record holder Wilson Kipsang pulled a calf that forced him to drop off.
The third place went to Brazilian Paulo Roberto with 1:05.25.
