Kenya’s Sheila Jepkosgei Chesang took top honors at the 6th edition of the Jakarta Marathon that was held on Sunday (29) in Jarkata, Indonesia.
Chesang led a 1-2-3 podium Kenyan finish as battled for the honors with her fellow country-mate, Margaret Njuguna and Immaculate Chemutai.
Chesang came to this race with a personal best of 2:35.13 that she got in Chongqin marathon in China in 2014. She could not lower her pb but managed to hold the two Kenyans to cut the tape in 2:46.49, five minutes short of the course record of 2:40.25 that was set in 2014 by Winfrida Nyansikera who is also from Kenya.
The Kenyan police officer was followed closely by Chemutai who crossed the line in three seconds later with Njuguna closing the Kenyan podium finish in 2:49.19.
Josephin Anselin from Great Britain finished fourth with Jane Muriuki in fifth in 2:50.36 and 2:54.57 respectively.
