World U20 10,000m champion Rhonex Kipruto won the 11th edition of Tuskys cross country championships that was held on Sunday (25) in Huruma Ground, Eldoret.
The 18 year-old has had a great season as he recently threatened to tear down Leornard Komon’s world record of 26:44 when he fell short of it with two seconds to set the second fastest time over the same distance.
Kipruto, who last April ran a 27:08 USA all-comers record at the UAE Healthy Kidney 10K in New daid he had prepaired well for the race as he knew it was going to be more competitive.
Kipruto who is also eyeing a place in Team Kenya for the World Cross Country Championships next year could not afford to let anyone take the title as he cut the tape in 29:38.1.
He was followed by Davies Kimeli of 29:55.9 with Shadrack Kimutai closing the first three finishes in 30:07.0
