Kenya’s Rhonex Kipruto produced a stunning performance as he won the second gold for Kenya in 10000m race at the ongoing World U20 Championships at the Tampere Stadium in Finland.
The 18 year-old destroyed a strong field that included Uganda’s finest Jacob Kiplimo and Ethiopia’s Berihu Aregawi.
“I’m very happy, it was a great day,” said Kipruto. “It was an honour to represent my country and my people. The competitors were tough but I was able to stay focused.”
The World U-18 champion set a new championship record of 27:21.08 and was followed by Kiplimo in 27:40.36. Aregawi closed the podium three finishes in a personal best of 27:48.41
