Kenya’s Elisha Barno proved that in racing its all about mental psychology when he took the top honors at the 16th edition of the Nairobi Standard Chartered Marathon that was held on Sunday (28) at Railway Club in Nairobi.
The 33 year-old who early this month won the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon showed again what he is made of when he took on five runners that included Julius Kiprono, Patrick Kibor and Mathew Kemboi but managed to drop them at the 39km mark to hold his grip on the title.
Barno ran for the remaining part of the race alone to go ahead to cut the tape in 2:14.19.
he was followed by Kiprono who crossed the line in 2:15.01 with Kibor closing the first three podium finishes in 2:15.09.
Kemboi and David Kipkoech finished in fourth and fifth place in 2:15.43 and 2:15.47 respectively.
