Kenya’s Fancy Chemutai was the star to watch at the 17th edition of the Zwolle Half Marathon that was held on Saturday (9) in Zwolle, Netherlands.
The 23 year-old who came to this race with a personal best of 1:04.52 that she got at the Ras Al Khaimah in February this year was the star threat to the course record of 1:08.22 that was set in 2011 by Flomena Chepchirchir.
Chemutai could not replicate the speed she had in February but managed to contain the threat of Ethiopian Bekelech Gudeta cutting the tape in 1:09.39.
Bekelech who came with a PB of 1:08.12 that she got in Valencia in March this year was forced to settle for the second position when she crossed the line twelve seconds later.
Former Kenyan Rose Chelimo now trading as a Bahrain citizen closed the podium three position in 1:10.59.
Ethiopia’s Tsehay Adhana and Alice Kibor from Kenya crossed the line in fourth and fifth in 1:14.08 and 1:15.31 respectively.
