Former Olympics 3,000m steeplechase champion Milcah Chemos praised for a silver medal won by Hyvin Kiyeng in the ongoing Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Chemos said the silverware was great for the country but the speed was too high for Kenyans against Kenyan turned Bahrain international Ruth Jebet.
“That girl (Jebet) was on top form. She started the race on a high note and never looked back, which made her lose the world record with a second,” said chemos.
Chemos, after winning world championships title in Moscow, Russia, picked a back injury and from that time, she has not been in the limelight.
“If I was in the team, we could have won top two positions but as an athlete, sometimes fitness matters a lot on the course of duty,” added Chemos in her house in Eldoret.
Silver medal for Kenya by Kiyeng, tallied Kenyan medals to four with a single gold and three silver.
Jemima Sumgong on Sunday won the first ever Olympic gold medal in women’s marathon.
