Kenya’s Sarah Chepchirchir defended her crown at the 5th edition of the EDP Rock ‘n’ Roll Lisbon Marathon that will be held on Sunday (15) in Lisbon, Portugal.
The 33 year-old hold who holds the course record of 2:24.13 could not lower it when she cut the tape in 2:27.57.
Chepchirchir is ranked the sixth fastest woman in history after setting a PB of 2:19.47 in her third career marathon and first major as smashed the Japanese all-comers records on the redesigned course at the 2017 Tokyo Marathon, earlier this year.
“My aim was to lower my time (course record) but the conditions couldn’t allow but am greateful that I have won my second title here,” Chepchirchir said.
Ethiopia’s Godfay Abera and Sichala Kumeshi came in second and third in 2:28.46 and 2:38.52.
