Kenya’s Shieys Chepkosgei the 2017 Standard Chartered half Marathon winner has been sanctioned by the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) when they upheld the decision by the Anti-doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) for using banned performance enhancing substance.
When athletics.co.ke reached out to the Anti-doping Agency of Kenya CEO Japhter Rugut, he confirmed that it’s a case they have followed keenly and he is satisfied with the decision of the tribunal.
We tell athletes to run clean and win clean but if they decide to use drugs we will find them and stern action will be taken on such,” said Rugut.
The tribunal also found Florence Chepsoi guilty of using the prednisone and prednisolone in November, 2015 and she was suspended for two years.
Chepkosgei was banned for four years for using testosterone, androsterone and etiocholano from the Hari Sukan Negara Half Marathon (HSN21KM) in Malaysia on October 8, 2016 where she finished in third with 1:24.53 in a race that was won by Gladys Tarus and Naomi Muriuki with a time of 1:15.48 and 1:23.05 respectively.
