Bahrain’s Abraham Cheroben will be seeking to defend his title record the third time at the 27th edition of the Valencia Half Marathon that will be held on 22nd October in Valencia, Spain.
The 24 year-old who holds the course record of this race and is fresh from winning the Copenhagen Half Marathon with 58:40 will battle it out with Kenyans Vincent Rono and Justus Kangogo both having 59:27 and 59:31 respectively.
The 27 year-old Rono got his PB at the Lille Half Marathon in France early this month while Kangogo got his time at the Ostia Half Marathon when he finished second behind Ethiopian Guye Adola.
New Zealand’s Half Marathon record holder Jake Robertson who pushed Mo Farah to the edge at the rcent Great North Run comes to this race with a PB of 60:12, which he got at the Lisbon Half Marathon this year. Robertson moved to Iten in Kenya when he was 17 years with his twin brother Zane Robertson.
Morocco’s Mustapha El Aziz comes with his PB of 59:29 that he got at this race in 2016.
There will also be Stephen Kosgei Kibet, winner of the 2016 trial and who will therefore wear the ‘Number One’ bib.
Abraham Cheroben is accompanied by his own team to set the race pace towards setting a new course record.
