Kenya’s Hillary Kiptum Maiyo defended his title at the 4th edition of the Minsk Half Marathon that was held on Sunday (10) on the streets of Minsk, Belarus.
Maiyo battled for the honors with Ethiopian Jima Bekele who in June won the Dubai International 10K with a time of 30.10 and had PB of 1:03.04 he set last year at the Suzhou Jinji Lake International Half Marathon in China.
The 23 year-old failed to break his record he set last year of 1:03.00 when he cut the tape in 1:03.19 with the Ethiopian coming second in 1:04.23.
Ukraine’s Mykola Lukhimchyk took third place in 1:06.13 with Alem Bereket another Ethiopian taking fourth and Uladzislau Pramau the home boy coming in fifth place with 1:07.07 and 1:07.16 respectively.
The winner of the race will pocket a cool $ 3000 and an additional bonus of $ 1000 if you break the course record 1:03.00 which was set last year by Maiyo.
