Kenya’s Chemtai Rionotukei the broke the women’s course record at the 7th edition of the Taiyuan International Marathon that was held on Sunday (10) in China.
Rionotukei broke the course record that was set in 2010 by fellow country mate Emma Muthoni Kariuki of 2:29.52 when she shelved off 16 seconds.
.when speaking to the media after the race, Rionotukei said, “And the course is very good because we were going around the city and the audience were always cheering for us.” “I was satisfied with the result. It is my fifth time to come to China and my third marathon in China.”
Ethiopian Marathon debutant Jabore Abayechew came in second with 2:29.71 with third place going to Ayelu Hordofa from Ethiopia with 2:34.51.
