Kenya’s Nancy Kiprop will be out to improve on time at the 34th edition of the Vienna City Marathon that will be held on Sunday (23) in Vienna, Austria.
Kiprop who has a PB of 2:25.13 she got last year when she came second behind the eventual winner Ethiopia Shuko Genemo who will also go back to defend her title.
The 38 years old will battle for honors with her fellow country women led by Rebecca Chesir who comes to the race with a sub 2:26.
Kiprop when speaking to the press she said, “My aim is to improve by one to two minutes on Sunday”
The defending Champion of Vienna, Shuko Genemo will be out to fight and retain her title she won with a time of 2:24:31, which was the second fastest time in history of the event.
“I want to run faster than last year,” said Shuko Genemo during press conference. An improvement by the 21-year-old Ethiopian could finally bring down the course record held by Italian Maura Viceconte of 2:23.47 she set 17 years ago.
Another great Ethiopian on the line is Meseret Mengistu who has a PB of 2:23.26 that she got from the 2015 Paris Marathon. She also comes to the race fresh from winning the Xiamen Marathon race with 2:25.58 early January.
