World javelin champion Julius Yego better known as the “you tube man” is gearing up for the upcoming World Championships that will take place from 4th– 13th August in London.
the 28 years old who is preparing for the world champion is busy training for the games in August but says he is under no pressure about defending his title saying he is taking each days training seriously.
“My training is going on well and I have done my part and there is still a lot to be done but come world championships in London I will be ready by then.
Am hoping to go again to South Africa because there I will train under different coaches and get a lot of exposure but I will wait for my manager who does my planning and he will guide me on where to go next.” Yego said.
While speaking to athletics.co.ke, the youtube man is heading to London to compete and do his best, as he avoids the preasure of people hoping that he is going to defend his title. He is hoping to compete in any event that his coach will feel suitable for him so that he can gauge his performance before the London games.
“We have Diamond leagues games that I might participate in but that I leave it to my manager to plan and advice me in which games I might participate in,” he concluded.
At the 2016 Rio Olympic Games Yego threw 88.24 metres on his first attempt, a season best and that was good enough to hold the lead until the penultimate round when Thomas Roehler (Germany) threw 90.30 to take the gold medal.
A limping Yego then retired from the competition after suffering an ankle injury that forced him out of competition.
