Double World junior Cross Country champion Violah Kibiwott was the winner of the Central Rift meeting that was held on 4 February at Mosoriot Teachers College in Nandi County.
Kibiwott cut the tape in a time of 34:51.16 beating world 3,000m steeplechase champion Hyvin Kiyeng to second in 34:51.68 and former world youth 2000m steeplechase daisy Chepkemei finished third in 35:32.04.
“If it means getting a ticket to London world championships, I will be competing in either 10,000m or marathon and not 5,000m as usual,” said Kibiwott.
