Kenya’s Sammy Kitwara is the winner of the 18th edition of Taipei International Marathon that was held on Sunday in Taipei, Taiwani.
Kitwara broke the course record crossing the finish line with a time of 2:09.59.
The cousre was held by Ethiopian Yemane Tsegaye who set it in 2011 with a time of 2:10.24, the receord has held on until it was brocken by the 30 years old Kitwara.
Kitwa took home a cool NTS$ 800,000 the prize money for the winner and an additional NT$ 1million for breaking the course record.
“I feel great great for winning this race, my body was in great shape I knew I must try and be on the podium but thank God I did and I also set the new course record,” Kitwara told the press after winning the race.
