The Standard Chartered Nairobi international Half Marathon that was held at Nyayo National stadium on Sunday (30).
This year’s race top five positions were all taken by new comers beating the defending champion Patrick Kipngeno who finished outside the top ten.
Reuben lima is the new 21km crossing the tape with a time of 1:02.53 followed closely by Dominic Kipngeno who finished with a time of 1:03.14 and third place went to Kenneth Kemboi Rotich with 1:15.27.
The 30 years old who trains from Kaptagat training camp said,”this is my last half marathon that am participating in because from next am switching to marathon races. i have even changed my training patterns as i fully focus on marathons.”
“The race course was good and because i had prepared well for it. am so happy that i performed well,” he said during our interview.
Limaa has participated in Major half marathons, in 2012 he was position two at Paris half Marathon and 2013 he was position three at Kirk Goodwin Half Marathon in West Texas.
The women race was taken by Betty Lembus with a time of 1:12.26 followed closely by Ruth Chepng’etich of 1:14.13 and third place went to Peninah Chepchumba finishing with a time of 1:15.13
