Wilfred Kimitei the African Senior 10,000m silver medalist has been added on the list to battle for Standard Chartered Nairobi Half Marathon that will be held this Sunday ( 30)
Kimitei the winner of this year’s First lady half marathon will be be out to battle the current defending champion Patrick Kipng’eno who is currently in great shape after winning the Kisii Half Marathon and Ndakaini Half Marathon, winning both races with a time of 62:44 and 63.00 respectively.
The 30-year old who trains in Iten whose name was removed from Olympics team to Rio de Janeiro after coming position three at the Rio trials in Eldoret is so ready for the battle between the defending champion.
Kimitei toppled a deep field to cut the tape in 1:00:38 after deploying the afterburners on closest challenger, Hilary Kipchumba, who crossed the line two seconds later with 2013 National Cross Country champion Philemon Rono completing the podium in 1: 00:42.
This years race has attracted over 30,000 participants.
The route for all the six race category 42k, male and female, 21k male and female, 10k male and female, 21k wheel chair male and female, 5k family fun run and the CEO fun race which is into its second edition remain unchanged.
