Kenyan Emmanuel Mnangat won the 34th edition of the CDMX Marathon in Mexico, an IAAF bronze label race on Sunday (28).
The race was fought to the wire as of 200m Mnangat had battled his fellow country man Isaack Kemboi for a photo finish with a time of 2:19.30.
Kemboi came in second with a time of 2:19:31 while the third place was another Kenyan Rodgers Ondati who arrived 20seconds after and crossed the finish line with a time of 2:19.50.
“The race was so tough as you can see we had to battle on the line, said Mnangat after being crown the 2016 CDMX marathon winner at the Olympic stadium in Ciudad Universitaria.
It was hard race considering the climate but I thank God am the winner, Mnangat concluded.
