Eldoret based social joints have fully prepared ahead of track and field events that kicks off in Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games on Friday (11).
The town is well known for athletics prowess and majority of fans will be thronging in such joints to cheer them, with the region considered the hub of country’s athletics centre.
Uasin Gishu’s headquarter, Eldoret is refereed to as City of champions specifically will be on focus as most of the country’s top cream athletes reside in the town.
Founder of Shakers Restaurant John Gitari, is one of the entertainment sport in the town that has already made the arrangements for the fans who are set to throng there to cheer their favorite athletes in Olympics.
“Now Kenyan Olympics are beginning. Enthusiasm and excitement is high in Eldoret. We have made proper plans to accommodate athletic lovers,” Gitari said.
it will be the turn for David Rudisha to prove his mantle in 800m at 16:10 in 800m heats. He will be joined by former world junior champion Alfred Kipketer and Ferguson Rotich.
Rudisha is expected to defend his 2012 London Olympics title where he secured the victory with a world record in 1:40.91.
Triple world champion Vivian Cheruiyot will throw herself in the ring for the events’ final at 17:10 hours. Cheruiyot will be joined by Alice Aprot and Betsy Saina.
Samuel Gathimba will line up in the 20km walk final (20:30) while 1500m women heats will follow at 02:30 in the morning which will be on August 13 where World 1500m silver medalist Faith Kiyegon, Violah Lagat and Nancy Chepkwemoi will be chasing qualifications.
Alex Sampao and Raymond Kibet will follow in the 400m men at 03:05 in the morning.
